MEPRO was established in 1973. It started as a home industry with only 8 employees and a few traditional production facilities. Due to the increase of market demand, the company recorded a steady growth. In 1995, it moved to its current location and acquired modern technologies. Its new facilities were designed to comply with cGMP standards. They are continuously maintained to the highest standards.

The new location occupies 30,000 meter squares of land consisting of three main production facilities, namely 1) common medicinal, 2) penicillin orals, cephalosporin orals and injectables, and 3) utilities and headquarters. At present, the company employs no less than 500 personnel, around 250 in the product and management division and another 250 work in the marketing division. Its marketing forces penetrate virtually every market in Indonesia, placing the company currently at the Top 20 among local pharmaceutical companies in Indonesia.

Since its inception, MEPRO focuses on ethical products with a product portfolio consisting of more than 25 therapeutic classes and 80 brands. In 2003, the company started manufacturing nutraceutical products to complement its existing product portfolio. To date, seven products have been launched. They have enjoyed positive feedback from customers. The company will continue enhancing its research and development on these “back to nature” products to support its slogan “To prevent is better than to cure”
